SoberHood is a recovery community organization meaning it is a peer led 501c3 nonprofit. Its mission is to reduce the high cost of addiction while improving the health and wellbeing of individuals and families through recovery support, education, advocacy and community building
SoberHood was founded in 2009. In April 2011, SoberHood transitioned from being a direct recovery housing provider to overseeing the statewide certifying body, TROHN.org. SoberHood has continued to play an active role in the recovery movement at the local, state and national levels. In 2014, SoberHood won three federal grants that funded new programming: RecoveryPeople Million Hearts, RecoveryPeople Statewide Network and Texans for Recovery and Resiliency The etymology of SoberHood's name was derived from: sober- sōbər/
