Scott Daniel Program

Prior to the formation of TROHN in April 2011, its parent organization, SoberHood, had been a direct recovery housing provider since before 2009.  The precursor to SoberHood opened the only Gay/Bi Men's sober home in Texas in August 2008. SoberHood's leadership quickly recognized the need to apply for nonprofit status, if they were going to focus on un- and under served populations e.g. LGBT. A generous donation in the memory of Scott Daniel, helped SoberHood expand the gay mens home's capacity and reach financial sustainability by 2011.

Scott Daniel was a prominent attorney and HIV/AIDS activist in the Houston/Galveston area who struggled with substance use issues and tragically died due to an overdose. SoberHood continues to advocate for more culturally competent recovery support services for the LGBT community under its Scott Daniel Program.
